Christian Counseling is unique in that the values of the Counselor are revealed at the forefront. I primarily use Reality Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral, Narrartive Therapy, and Experiential approaches. However, I will be flexible and tailor the approaches to meet individual needs.
I have worked with a variety of people including adults, teens, children, and married couples. People come with a variety of problems and situations, including depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, addiction, anger, and various other mood problems.
Initiating counseling can be a huge and fearful step. However, my goal is to create a setting that will be your “place of refuge” and be the counselor that will meet you were you are, help you embrace life challenges, achieve the life you deserve, and discover the power and greatness you have within.
I am eager to help those who are hurting and assist in getting them to a place of healing and restoration so that they can live life to its full potential. I use practical skills and techniques to create insight and inspire change. I have over 20 years of experience working in the behavioral health field including in a correctional setting. I have a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling. I am licensed by the State of TN as a Professional Counselor with a Mental Health Service Provider designation as well as a National Certified Counselor. I am also certified as a Prepare/Enrich facilitator to help couples prepare for marriage, enhance their marital relationship, learn new ways of communicating, and develop new skills to resolve conflict in the relationship.
My counseling specialties with adults are: Dating, Premarital, Separation & Divorce, Loss & Grief, Anger Management, Codependency, Self-Esteem, Depression, and Anxiety. Although my preferred treatment modality is the Cognitive Behavioral Health (CBT) approach, my therapeutic approach is a collaborative one that is client centered where I will utilize various therapeutic approaches to meet the need of the client.
