What to Expect from Telehealth Counseling

Once you schedule your appointment online, via text, or by phone call, we will send you a link before your appointment that you can access on a computer, laptop, tablet, or phone. You will type in your name and then be in the virtual waiting room. At your appointment time, your therapist will login and connect to you. In telehealth counseling we want to hear about your journey, your successes, and your struggles. We want to hear how the current environment has uniquely impact you. We will work with you to develop a plan based on what you want to accomplish in online counseling. You will learn new coping skills and ways to overcome the thoughts, emotions, and physical symptoms you may be experiencing. In follow up sessions we will move beyond coping skills to get to the core of your beliefs, thoughts, and emotions to help you discover peace despite the uncertainties the COVID-19 have created. At LifeWorks Resources you will have a safe place online to be open and honest about where you are.

We also understand the important role that your faith can play in your thoughts and feelings during this time. Our staff will work with you to explore your core beliefs and how they can shape the way that you interpret and all that is going on with COVID-19. You May Have Some Questions About Telehealth Counseling…

Is online therapy as effective?
The American Psychological Association has reviewed research and noted that telehealth counseling can be "just as effective as the face-to-face care" in many situations. Many of our clients have found it to be very helpful. You may find it more comfortable.

Is telehealth counseling secure and private?
We use a secure site that is approved by HIPAA and HITECH which has to do with security and privacy. Our therapist will be in a private office where no one else can hear or see. You will want to try to also be in a location that is private, safe, and where you will not be interrupted. You can access the website on a computer, laptop, tablet, or phone.

Can my child or teenager do telehealth counseling?
Many teenagers are more comfortable using technology and may prefer online counseling. For younger children, as long as they can stay focused enough to stay on camera then your child may able to do telehealth counseling.

Is online counseling worth the cost?
Most people feel that it has been beneficial in times of stress, worry, and uncertainty. We are working with insurance to make sure that your telehealth counseling is covered.
